CA City Sets Organic Precedent over Toxic Chemicals

Irvine city council voted unanimously on Tuesday to use organic pesticides and herbicides on all public areas!

About half of the toxic herbicides and pesticides sprayed in the US are used in landscaping an public areas.
According to the CA Dept of Pesticide Regulation, 2014 records showed that 250,000 pounds are used in Orange County each year (home to Irvine), 75,000 pounds of which are glyphosate. Decade long studies show that pesticide/herbicide exposure lowers IQ in children. Other new studies show glyphosate causes cancer cell growth, reproductive and other organ damage.
Citizens CAN make a difference in reducing toxic exposure!
You can go to your city council members. This is another approach to make a difference that some people may feel is more doable for them - they may feel more connected to their city officials than Senators. Just a different angle.
We urge a few citizens of every city to approach their city council and ask to "use organic alternatives instead of toxic chemicals".
We do not suggest asking for a ban at first...only because it is much more confrontational and city council will be more resistant.
They need to see that they can still manage pests/ weeds without those chemicals. Asking to use a different method is not unreasonable and not illegal.

Some states now have rules around not being able to restrict pesticide use without State Secretary of Agriculture approval....well this is not restricting but using alternative methods instead, which is perfectly fine.
What we have seen that works from the Irvine win:
- Get a small team and educate others...bring in a speaker or just a coffee gathering to talk about it.
- Meet with city officials individually first to have them on board and get it on agenda.
- Have doctors present info if possible.
- Then present at council for vote with as many citizen testimonials as possible. Parents of children with cancer are especially poweful.
- Coordinate media ahead of time.

We applaud the city council members for serving the people of Irvine, something which our EPA and senators have failed to do. We hope our regulators and elected federal officials will see that all it takes is the political will to start protecting the people of America.

Monsanto Shareholder Meeting 2016
It is the morning after the Monsanto Shareholder Meeting on 1月 29, 2016. Thinking back on what happened, I have to be honest, I was SO NERVOUS. Let's just get that out of the way, right off the bat. I was stepping in for Zen, for crying out loud. I have watched this woman speak and she is so good at what she does, and I knew I had some really big shoes to fill.

Many groups have requested the presence of Moms Across America at their events this year. I was honored to speak on behalf of our supporters at 40 locations, nationally and internationally, reaching thousands, raising awareness and supporting actions for healthy communities. In every location, I looked into the eyes of parents and saw people struggling with their children's health. I also saw immense gratitude for all of your testimonials and actions. People around the world are truly inspired by the number of calls, the events and campaigns you are participating in and the difference you are making. THANK YOU!
I also spoke at events where people oppose what we are doing, and even then, I saw that they listened and we made a difference for them. I wondered if it is because many of them have family that are sick as well.
These locations included Monsanto in Missouri, Dow in Michigan, Dupont in Maryland, Syngenta in Basel, Switzerland, and the Borlaug Dialogue: World Food Prize Conference in Iowa.
The Monsanto shareholder meeting account blog was reported to us by an EU contact to have been translated into 7 languages.
I spoke on behalf of Moms Across America on a speaking tour with Dr. Michelle Perro and Dr. Michael Antoniou in Australia and New Zealand and in Zurich, Switzerland at an EU protest against the GM Potato and corporate control. It is clear that we are a global food economy and GMO chemical farming is affecting us all.

You had Moms Meetups all across the country in May and connected with leaders who inspire us to continue on.
You called, emailed, posted and wrote letters by the thousands to senators and representatives.
Many of you courageously met with your Senator's aides for the first time, really expanding yourself and our impact.
Supporters marched in parades in July for the third year, totaling over 700 events in the first three years of our existence in all 50 states.
Our sponsors enabled us to send out hundreds of thousands of free flyers, door hangers, buttons and decals to over 500 leaders and you passed them out around your communities.
In addition, over 85 supporters took our speaker training and are empowered to speak across the country, expanding our reach!

- Monsanto's stock value dropped 30% at one point.
- Syngenta declared they deliberately decreased the sale of glyphosate this year.
- Reuters reported that Big Ag is moving AWAY from harsh chemical pesticides and towards more biological solutions.
- Enlist Duo was was pulled OFF the market (THANK YOU!!!) and further investigation of glyphosate and other toxic chemicals were conducted.
- Climate Chaos is being connected to GMO farming and the international community is beginning to agree on organic farming benefits.

Mom Uses Triple Platinum Singing Voice to Raise Awareness About GMOs

Le'Shaun came all the way from Las Vegas, NV to the Food Justice Rally in DC in 10月 2015. She spoke out on the stage for her state's Senator to say NO to the Dark Act and YES to 511 FOR mandatory GMO labeling.
I am particularly glad she is taking a stand because the statistics for the Black and Hispanic communities are worse than other races. More Black and Hispanic children have both diabetes and obesity than other races. In some Black and Hispanic communities pediatricians report 90% of children with obesity, most with other conditions such as allergies, autism, asthma, auto immune or mental disorders as well. We hope this blog reached the Black and Hispanic communities and alerts everyone, of all races, to the injustices befalling our children.

Monsanto Put on Trial for Crimes Against Humanity at the Hague
The Organic Consumers Association (OCA), IFOAM International Organics, Navdanya, Regeneration International (RI), and Millions Against Monsanto, joined by dozens of global food, farming and environmental justice groups announced today that they will put Monsanto MON (NYSE), a US-based transnational corporation, on trial for crimes against nature and humanity, and ecocide, in The Hague, Netherlands, next year on World Food Day, 10月 16, 2016.
Since the beginning of the twentieth century according to the groups, Monsanto has developed a steady stream of highly toxic products which have permanently damaged the environment and caused illness or death for thousands of people.

The announcement was made at a press conference held in conjunction with the COP21 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, 11月 30 – 12月 11, in Paris.

American's Speak Up Against the DARK ACT and for Mandatory GMO Labeling
Moms Across America, March Against Monsanto and Food Justice Team, Organic Consumers Association, Food Democracy Now, Truth in Labeling Coalition, lawyer Steven Druker, Anthony Gucciardi, Dr. Group, activists leaders from at least 12 states and supporters of mandatory GMO labeling descended upon Washington DC on 10月 16, 2015 just days before the Ag Committee hearing on 10月 21,2015.

The Light Brigade light up the night with TRUTH.
Our voices were some of the last heard before the bio tech meeting which was supposed to be an unbiased discussion about labeling and the safety of GMOs.
It turned out to be a biased, Pro GMO discussion filled with lies. It turned out to be an opportunity for our Senators to intimidate and pressure the EPA, FDA and USDA representatives into speeding up the approval process for GMOs and related pesticides! It turned out to be a farce of democracy. Utterly disgusting and outrageous.
Over and over again our Senators ignored and denied the scientific studies showing harm from GMos and glyphosate, the world's most widely used herbicide which is allowed on 160 of our foods at levels far above which has been shown to cause harm.
Our moms feel betrayed and dismayed. We are speaking up to demand integrity in our government and food supply.

The Borlaug Dialogue is an international symposium of GMO chemical company CTO's- Dow, Dupont and Monsanto, food companies like Cargill and Land O' Lakes, big Ag farmers, banks like the Bank of Africa, Chelsea Clinton, Tom Vilsack, Warren Buffet's son, USDA officials and African/Asian dignitaries.
They gave awards and accolades to many women African farmers and then wooed them with the claims of the latest "agriculture technology." Apparently GMO is "activist lingo" now so they barely ever mentioned the word for the two days that I attended.
I did ask a question at a smaller panel with African farmers led by Julie Borlaug (the woman who debated Robyn O'Brien) about bringing organic methods into Africa, especially since the UN Report "Wake Up Before It's Too Late" stated that small organic farms are the only way to feed the world. They denied this report created by 60 international experts as and brushed it off as "opinion". Julie Borlaug said "I was there and that is not true." They asked me to leave when I brought up the harm from glyphosate and blocked me from approaching the African farmers. I got to the official from Uganda anyway, as I refused to leave. Later in the big room in front of 1200, I asked almost the same question and people literally hissed at me. It was so amazing how brainwashed they were, how they blatantly ignore harm.
My take away is this:
- They are anxious. The FOIA on Kevin Folta was mentioned. They said "it's dangerous out there" The focus on women and waning of FOIA's shows me we are making headway.
- They will continue to dismiss us as uneducated, fringe, emotional and uncaring about the starving children until we bring SOLUTIONS for feeding the world to the world in a prominent way. The 9 billion by 2050 was the over riding theme.
- They are going after Africa in a massive way. They are convincing them that "they deserve the best technology and no one else should stop them from having a choice. "We should have the freedom to chose," one farmer said. (meaning NO bans of GMOs...stealing our phrase, "Freedom to chose") They are taking advantage of their lack of resources and education and I truly fear the outcome unless we get a presence there.
- They have many new initiatives: free curriculum "Bringing Bio Tech to Life" for middle school, high school and college programs. They are brainwashing our youth. Everything a college student said to me was parroting their talking points.
- They are promoting fisheries in Africa which I am sure will feed the fish GMO feed.
- I learned why the TPP has so much support. It reduces the tariffs on soy and corn buy 80%. They can sell their cheap, toxic food all over the world much more easily. Cargill CEO actually said, "Resist the urge to go after domestic food security." ie: Let the USA feed you! Pass the TPP!

John Gray on GMOs, Glyphosate, Toxins and Brain Health
It was with great honor and happiness that I interviewed Dr. John Gray, world renowned best selling author on Tuesday Sept 15th, 2015. When we met at the Autism One conference in the spring, he greeted me warmly, saying that he knew about and appreciated the work of Moms Across America (all of YOU!) and offered his support. I could sense that he is a person who is completely devoted to the well being of human kind and he meant it, so when I read an article about American's getting dementia in their 40's, I was reminded of a Brazilian study showing glyphosate causing neurotoxicity of the brain (brain cell death) and then thought of John Gray's recent book "Staying Focused in a Hyper World" about ADHD, memory loss and brain performance. I asked him for an interview and he was very generous to accept. He is compassionate, extremely intelligent, and a powerful speaker. It was truly a delight to meet and interview John Gray.

The fact is we are all being exposed to glyphosate, which is a chelator, meaning it "holds or makes unavailable", the vital nutrients of any living thing it touches. So we could be eating very healthy food, lots of vegetables and fruits, have a filter on our water faucet and still be vitamin and mineral deficient because glyphosate, in our food, water, air and rain, is grabbing onto those vitamins and minerals and making them unavailable to our bodies. This impacts our brain and overall health, relationships, performance and happiness.
So it is important to support our bodies with the vitamins and minerals we need. If you can afford it, give it a try, consider it an investment in your future.
