Washington DC - Tuesday, 9月 9, 2025
The long-awaited MAHA Commission Strategy Report was released today. The historic document is the primary focus of millions of parents with children with autism and autoimmune disease, health writers, and social media influencers worldwide.
I was able to review the report before the hearing and be present at the announcement in Washington DC. After reviewing the report, but before the announcement, which is still pending at the time of writing. I stated, “While Moms Across America is thrilled that the MAHA Commission Strategy Report addresses a wide range of environmental factors that have never before been addressed by any other administration, we are deeply disappointed that the committee allowed the chemical companies to influence the report. Clearly, eliminating the words “glyphosate and atrazine” (that were in the first report) is not a result of new science that shows these two most widely used herbicides to be safe, but rather a tactic to appease the pesticide companies. We would rather that this MAHA Commission report had put the health and safety of our children first and made a bold commitment to reduce our children’s exposure to thousands of harmful pesticides, many of which are banned in other countries, and many more that have been given emergency use authorization without safety studies. Reducing exposure to these pesticides is crucial to making America healthy again. We can only continue to hold President Trump and Kennedy to their word and educate the public about the truth.”
The report did not change the wording on pesticides from the initial report, merely stating that the EPA would do a better job of explaining their review process, a pathetic attempt to assuage the American people.
Pesticides
EPA, partnering with food and agricultural stakeholders, will work to ensure that the public has awareness and confidence in EPA’s pesticide robust review procedures and how that relates to the limiting of risk for users and the general public and informs continual improvement.
Outrageous. An insult to mothers and fathers everywhere- better words on the EPA’s website WILL NOT reduce childhood chronic illness, only bans and restrictions of pesticides will.
I will continue to add that a dozen environmental factors were listed in the report, such as fluoride, PFAS, and many even by brand name, such as Oxycontin. To omit two pesticides that were mentioned in the first report without any explanation, no new science, and no reduction of use since then demonstrates a lack of integrity that is deeply disappointing to the parents of children with health issues everywhere. Scientifically, ignoring contributing factors doesn’t work. No one can say whether the 321st bite of Cheerios containing an untested and unknown level of glyphosate or atrazine—or the fluoride or PFAS in the bathtub—was the tipping point that overflowed our child’s “cup” of toxic burden, potentially leading to lifelong health consequences. You cannot rule out a culprit without evidence that the chemical was absent and harmless—and those studies simply do not exist.
Until proven innocent, all environmental toxins must be considered potentially guilty, and that includes glyphosate, atrazine, and all of the over 80,000 chemical products allowed in our food, environment, and household products.
Once again, excluding these two herbicides is not only unwise but scientifically inaccurate—and this omission cannot be ignored. Moms Across America will continue to raise the bullhorn, exposing the harms of these and thousands of other dangerous pesticides.
It should be noted that the clear emphasis in the report on precision crop protection application does intend for a reduction of pesticide use. In addition, the emphasis on increasing organic farming certification clearly shows support for switching from harmful agrochemical farming to one that does not allow or use glyphosate, atrazine, and thousands of other harmful pesticides.
Another welcome aspect of the report is its acknowledgment of multiple task forces addressing environmental factors that impact children’s health. Given their widespread use, glyphosate and atrazine should clearly be included.
School Campaign
USDA, HHS, ED, and the PCSFN will work with States and schools across the country on a Make American Schools Healthy Again awareness campaign that provides tools to implement best practices such as increasing physical activity and improving nutrition options. This would only be possible with an elimination of glyphosate use because drift level exposure of glyphosate reduces the nutrient uptake into a crop by 80-95%. (Michael McNeil Ag Advisory)
Using Data Tools Focused on Children, EPA, with support of other relevant agencies, will expand the America’s Children and the Environment tool, to compile and track data from a variety of national sources to present concrete, quantifiable indicators for key factors relevant to the environment and children's health in the U.S. that align with statutory obligations.
This will allow for the generation of reports and the building of supporting communication tools, such as story maps, that can convey technical information to the public in an easily digestible format.
MAA hopes that the collection of such data (which must remain private to the parent and child) will include the vast array of thousands of toxic chemicals that contaminate our children’s environments, food, vaccines, water, and bodies on a daily basis.
President’s Task Force on Environmental Health Risks and Safety Risks to Children: As Task Force leaders, HHS and EPA will leverage this existing Task Force to share information, coordinate efforts, and develop interdepartmental strategies to support the work in protecting and promoting children’s environmental health and safety.
MAA hopes the Task Force will include a study in the synergistic study of the thousands of chemicals impacting our children’s health.
EPA’s Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee
EPA will direct this existing advisory committee to focus on advancing research and communication recommendations that align with the implementation of the MAHA strategy elements.
We are curious to see if the “MAHA strategy elements” will, over time, include glyphosate, atrazine and the thousands of pesticides that are harming our children’s health - after all that is the job of the EPA.
Another important aspect that is missing is a commitment to regulate and consistently test for contaminants that are present in our food supply, despite the food source being a whole food, organic, biodynamic or otherwise considered a healthy food source. Numerous organizations and MAA, which has pending evidence, show that even very “healthy” foods are widely contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, industrial chemicals, veterinary drugs and hormones and mycotoxins- all a result of GMO agrochemical farming.
To omit this factor from the report is a sad reflection of the chemical company's influence over the process.
Moms Across America will continue to comment further on different aspects of the MAHA Commission Report. Look for updates to this article after the announcement here.
Also, stay tuned for additional food testing that Moms Across America will be releasing soon.
