Dear Secretary Kennedy,

In memory of our founder’s son, Ben Honeycutt, we aim to make a significant impact on human health in America. Through Ben’s extensive functional medicine testing; reviewed by leading scientists, toxicologists, nutritionists, and farmers, we discovered that the contaminants contributing to his depression are affecting every American, most without even knowing it. With greater awareness and support, we believe the following steps can help Make America Healthy Again.

We are writing to request that the HHS address and resolve the following issues:

1.Because past FDA administrations failed to regulate heavy metals and mycotoxins in food—and did a poor job of overseeing pesticide use—all Americans are now carrying a toxic burden that contributes to physical, mental, and reproductive health crises.

  • We are asking the FDA to regulate the food supply for heavy metals (e.g., mercury, aluminum, lead, and thallium)

  • We are asking the FDA to do a better job of regulating pesticides; specifically, why are banned pesticides such as DDT and chlormequat showing up in our children’s bodies and breakfast cereals?

  • Because of the widespread use of glyphosate, which increases Aspergillus mold and mycotoxins in crops, we are requesting that the FDA regulate both domestic and imported grains and beans for mycotoxins.

  • Our food—even organic—is alarmingly low in nutrients. Building the Food Pyramid on fictional nutrition ideals will not solve our health crisis. We are calling on the FDA to strengthen regulations around the nutritional content of our food. If a product is not nutrient-rich, it should not be marketed as food—or at the very least, it should be taxed like cigarettes, with those funds directed toward health education and support.

  • We ask that growers and suppliers be required to consistently test for nutrients and take farming and manufacturing steps to increase nutrients when necessary, so that consumers receive what they are paying for.

2. Because the FDA has failed to regulate these toxic contaminants, they are now widespread in our children’s bodies—fueling parasite and bacterial overgrowth, lowering hormone levels, driving depression, and contributing to countless chronic health issues. Parents are left shouldering the burden, spending tens of thousands of dollars each year on testing, detox protocols, and supplements. Meanwhile, most American families don’t even know these tests exist or simply can’t afford them.

  • We request that the HHS establish a policy to require healthcare companies to cover comprehensive testing for toxins.

  • Because the presence of these toxins can increase the presence of parasites and bacteria, we also request that they be included.

  • And because the presence of these toxins can lower the body's ability to produce or absorb minerals, vitamins, and cause hormonal imbalances, we also request their inclusion in the testing.

  • We request that MTHFR genetic disposition be standard testing, included in the heel prick test newborn screening test upon birth, to educate parents and avoid toxin exposure risks, such as over-vaccination and food contaminants.

  • We request that the HHS further require basic supplements such as Vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, and detox support such as activated charcoal to be covered by insurance.

  • In the meantime, we request that the HHS and FDA issue Guidelines for Healthy Eating and Detoxing, as we are happy to provide upon request.

3. More data on toxins, vitamins, minerals, parasites, bacteria, and hormones is essential for parents to begin to address their child’s or family member’s unique health issues and create a blueprint for success.

  • We suggest that the HHS allow for an opt-in for parents or patients for the anonymous collection of data regarding toxins to improve the assessment and health of our nation as a collective.

  • We suggest that tariffs on imported chemicals and taxes on domestic chemical companies be used to fund these tests.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Your courage to create policies that put health and safety first will cultivate health and prosperity across America and around the world.

With Sincere Gratititude,

Zen Honeycutt, Founding Executive Director, Moms Across America, and the Moms Across America Team
